Open to all actors, dancers, musicians, performers, artists, teachers and anyone else wanting to renew their coordination in an extra-ordinary place whilst deepening and invigorating the relationship to their artistic and/or professional practice.

The focus for this intensive is the study of the Alexander Technique, which is inherently applied in your own daily activities to develop greater freedom in movement, behaviour and performance. It trains your response-ability, and resilience in relation to tasks and challenges. Whether you are in need of getting unstuck, improving or honing a skill, changing habits that keep you in pain or strain, or simply to experience life more fully, this Technique will provide you with the tools to cooperate with your creative moving self in all areas of life in a practical, fun and sustainable way. 

We are meeting just outside of Ubud, Bali's artistic center. ​To study in, and be moved and inspired by, a culture and place where creativity is ordinary and ritual is intertwined with everyday life is a great motor for change and re-charging to take place. It takes us out of our regular routines and habits, moves us towards greater integration, and provides a new multi-sensory environment to play in, which stimulates our proprioceptive and kinesthetic senses and as a result our sense of life!

Kajsa Ingemansson fuses her teaching of the Alexander Technique with tools from her background as a mover, actor-creator, and teacher/coach within the performing arts. The result is a playful, explorative approach that brings about more creativity, authenticity and power.

Accommodation

We will be staying at Melati Cottages in the village of Penestanan, known as the home of the "Young Artists".

Nestled in a secluded spot of the village, surrounded by lush tropical gardens and rice terraces, Melati, meaning Jasmine, offers their serenity with a Balinese village life atmosphere.

Classes will be held in Melati's Wantilan, which is a Balinese pavilion used for community activities.

Daily Warm Ups & Opportunities

In addition to the main study, there will be daily morning warm ups. All along there will be time for recreation and cultural experiences.
A few examples are mountain hiking, beaches, scuba, nightlife and shopping. Massage and revitalizing body treatments are available at extremely low costs.

You can attend dance and music performances and if you are lucky you may be invited to witness a public or private ceremony while there. Respectful attendance at their ceremonies is welcomed by the Balinese people, whose religion is Hindu with Buddhist influences.

Trip price is based on two persons sharing a room with two beds and private bath. For a single room with private bath supplement $35.

When you get your tickets; DEPART February 12 or 13th 2018, arrive in Bali January 13,14 or at the very latest daytime 15th; RETURN February 22 or 23. Welcome dinner will be in the evening on the 15th and the first class begins in the morning on the 16th.
